The specific year when Bundy started his serial killing is not precise since he gave different dates to different people. He recorded a statement to the police that he started engaging in the crime from 1969 committed the first murder in 1972 (Thomas 22). In another occasion, he claimed that he started committing murder since1969. However his past behavior shows that he started the killing back in 1961 when he killed a young girl aged 8; He was 14 years then. In 1974, again Bandy was involved in a series of murder on college students. There was a mysterious disappearance of female student; one of the victims according to the police report was Joni Lenz (Thomas 25). The 18 year old was struck down unconscious in her bed and raped severally. On another occasion, an Evergreen States College female student was also killed while heading to a jazz show within the campus (Thomas 31).

In several instances, the police was not able to exactly identify the killer since there as no evidence over the person behind the serial killings and the person behind the massacre. It was until some students assisted the police to identify the suspect who killed Georgeann Hawkins (Thomas 20). The man was described to having seeking help from the pass by girls to carry a heavy load he was in possession then kill them on the way.  After a series of killings at Utah, Bundy moved to Colorado. While in Colorado, he continued with his serial killings, more young girls circum to his brutally. Caryn Campbell, disappeared while heading to her house after her duties in hospital. Her body was found later after a month. It was discovered that the body severed severe injuries (Thomas 20). The police held a serious hunt for the suspect and a list of several suspects was unveiled that included Bundy as the prime suspect
